Caller I.D. spoofing is the practice of causing the telephone network to display a number on the recipient's caller I.D. display which is not that of the actual originating station.  That's how the interception was undetected by Tammi's callers -- her Cell Phone Caller I.D. was displayed when she made her intercepted outgoing calls. 

KIRKLAND & ELLIS USED A TRICK AND A FRAUD TO DECEIVE TAMMI's CALLERS - Tammi's callers thought Tammi was using her Cell Phone for her outgoing calls to them - but it was really on Kirkland's telecommunications network and was illegally monitored.
